Mighty vs Crafty+ - A comparison
Storz & Bickel has been at the forefront of the vaping industry for decades now. The company created the original Volcano vaporizer, arguably the most iconic desktop vaporizer ever. Storz & Bickel also prides itself on being the only company producing medical herbal vaporizers. If you’re familiar with their hometown Tuttlingen (Germany), this shouldn't come as a surprise, as it’s a centre of medical technology. Throughout the years, they have made it multiple times on our top 10 lists for best vaporizers. Not just because of their iconic desktop models; they are also responsible for two very legendary portable vapes, the Mighty and the Crafty+. In this Mighty vs Crafty Comparison Review, we’ll take a closer look at these two vapes, to help you determine which one is more suited to your needs.

Mighty vs Crafty+ - A comparison

Design Comparison

Mighty:

In true Storz & Bickel style, the Mighty’s design is best described as clever and robust. You can easily access its loading tray by sliding it in a 90° motion. A unique "filling aid" is also included; a large tray that connects with the supplied grinder, which means filling the bowl couldn’t be easier. Most parts that require regular cleaning are easy to take apart. The Mighty also comes with a handy cleaning brush.

Crafty+:

In comparison to the original Crafty, the Crafty+ offers an improved housing, making it both lightweight and sturdy. You can tell this device was designed with travel in mind. Thanks to the one-button-control which gives you 3 pre-set temperature levels, vaping on-the-go becomes quick and effortless. The Crafty+ comes equipped with a cooling unit made from PEEK (Polyether ether ketone), a robust, heat-resistant plastic.

Heating and Vapour Performance

The Mighty and the Crafty+ both make use of the hybrid heating technique, which combines convection and conduction and makes for even and efficient heating. On top of that, both vaporizers are also compatible with dry herbs as well as oils.

The Mighty offers full temperature control. Thanks to the precise digital temperature gauge you can set the temperature anywhere between 40°C and 210°C. You can keep tabs on the current and set temperature, as well as the Mighty’s battery status, via the LED display. Adjusting the temperature is very straightforward: simply tap or hold the large plus or minus buttons. The Mighty heats up in 10-30 seconds.

Whether you consider yourself a flavour chaser or a cloud lover, you cannot go wrong with the Mighty’s performance. It offers some of the most pristine flavour available, and the vapour is both cool and smooth.

The Crafty+ also offers full temperature control, but you’ll need your Storz & Bickel app. Just like the Mighty, you can set the temperature anywhere between 40°C and 210°C. Without the app, the intuitive one-button-control gives you 3 pre-set temperature levels. It offers a 30% faster heat-up time in comparison to the original Crafty, but it does take 30-60 seconds for the Crafty+ to reach your set temperature.

The Crafty+’s hybrid heating system produces a strong airflow, resulting in easy draws of super tasty vapour.

Battery Performance:

The battery performance is where the Mighty shines brightest: two powerful built-in lithium batteries ensure extremely fast heat-up and allow for hours of vaporization. Thanks to the pass-through charging option it can even function as an efficient home vaporizer.

The Crafty+ can’t really hang with the Mighty when it comes to battery performance, as it comes with just one lithium battery. To be fair, the Crafty+ offers much-improved battery life in comparison to the original Crafty.

Ease of Use

The Mighty is an extremely easy-to-use vaporizer. Thanks to the LED display and handy filling aid you are all set for smooth sailing. Can’t go wrong with this device. However, it should be noted that the Mighty is a rather robust device, and it definitely isn’t as portable as its Crafty+ counterpart.

The Crafty+ won’t give the average vaper any problems. Objectively, it falls short in comparison to the Mighty when it comes to ease of use. You’ll need the Storz & Bickel app to get an experience that resembles the Mighty’s performance in this department. As mentioned above, the Crafty+ is a lot more “pocketable” than its Mighty counterpart though, which can feel mighty big in comparison.

Final Thoughts: Which of the Mighty or the Crafty+ is the Best Vaporizer?

Both the Mighty and the Crafty+ are sensational portable vaporizers, they really are. The Mighty arguably has the edge when it comes to temperature control and battery performance. On top of that, it might also be slightly easier to use. However, this literally comes at a price: not only is the Mighty more expensive, it’s also a bigger, less pocketable vaporizer.

In the end, it all comes down to your personal preference. If you’re big on a longer-lasting battery or full temperature control without having to use an app, the Mighty is the better vaporizer for you. Do you prefer a more pocketable, less expensive device? Then go for the Crafty+. Regardless of your personal preferences, you are guaranteed to make a solid purchase with any Storz & Bickel portable vaporizer!
