Mighty+ Vaporizer review: Was it worth the wait?
Test and review of the long-awaited Mighty+ portable vaporizer by Storz & Bickel, successor of the iconic Mighty

After many questions and requests about it, the most awaited portable vaporizer is finally a reality. Storz & Bickel announced the Mighty+ in a keynote, without any prior communication to retailers, keeping the mystery until the very end. But we now have our hands on it, so without further ado, let’s dive into the review.
Unboxing and first look at the Mighty+ portable vaporizer

The first really noticeable change from the Mighty to the Mighty+ is the size of the box. Like for the Crafty+, the Mighty+ packaging has been reduced by half. The old bulky charger being replaced by a USB cable definitely saves space.

Among the included accessories, you can find some o-rings, screens, a dosing capsule, and of course the famous Storz & Bickel cleaning brush. Undoubtedly the best cleaning accessory for vaporizers.

The new Mighty+ sits on top of these accessories, taking the full size of this new optimized box. The straight fins on the housing have been replaced by curved ones, once again just like on the Crafty+. This aesthetic change makes the device a bit sleeker, as it doesn't look like an old heater like the original model.

The logo and control buttons are now orange instead of black and grey. The DC socket has been replaced by a USB C charging port. The cooling unit logo has been slightly changed and they added tiny feet under the device. Other than that, no further changes are noticeable.

Talking about these “tiny feet”, I have to say I’m a bit disappointed. The device does not stand by itself, except if you reverse the little loading tool. That was already the case with the Mighty OG, and I was expecting a real ""stand-alone"" on this one. Not a deal breaker though, it just didn't need this ""upgrade"".

Now let's take it out of the box and use it.
First impression of the Mighty+ and comparison with the original Mighty
Out of the box:

Straight out of the box, the device displays 2 bars of charging. That's more than enough to try a first bowl but let's fully charge it first, like you would a new phone. Since it's not fully out of juice, we won't talk about the charging time for now, but I can already say I didn't have to wait overnight.

The device feels sturdy in hand and really inspires quality, just like any other Storz & Bickel vaporizer. But the new fins on the housing really give a different feel to it. It feels more sharp, more textured. The original Mighty feels more plain in comparison.

Removing the cooling unit from the device to load it, I can't help but notice it is the exact same one. Storz & Bickel didn't update the mouthpiece block at all, but we can't really argue with that. The Mighty cooling unit with swivel mouthpiece is great: it offers a very comfortable draw and is extremely easy to fully disassemble and clean. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Perhaps a zirconia mouthpiece would have been appreciated, but then again, not a biggie.
Preparation and how to use Mighty vaporizers:

I loaded both my original Mighty and new Mighty+ with the same amount of the same exotic flower, with the same grind consistency. Consistency is key when it comes to dry herb vaping, and I chose a medium fine grind. I found it to be the best for the Mighty's heating technology, combining conduction and convection heating. Santa Cruz Shredders are perfect grinders to obtain such results.

Now that my Mighty vaporizers are loaded, let's turn them on and enjoy some well-deserved vapour. If you don't know how to use a Mighty vape, it couldn't be easier:

Load it with your favourite ground herbs
Turn it on with a simple click on the on/off button
Select your desired temperature with the +/- buttons
The vaporizer will automatically heat up to the set temperature once turned on
Once the temperature is reached, the device will vibrate
Enjoy
You can increase the temperature by 15 °C by clicking twice on the on/off button
To turn it off, press the on/off button for a couple of seconds

The Mighty+ offers the exact same operation process, with one additional option: if you click 3 times on the on/off button while the vaporizer is being used, the temperature will jump to 220°C. That's definitely a great option to finish your bowl.
Mighty features and vapor quality:

I set up both Mighty dry herb vaporizers at 175°C thanks to their precise temperature controls. The Mighty+ reached it in under 60 seconds, while the OG took 20 seconds more. The heat up time is around 25% faster thanks to the new optimized heater, which is a welcome improvement.

When it comes to vapour (and overall) quality, the Mighty+ is a beast and stands up to some of the best desktop vaporizers while offering portable vaping. The Mighty is almost closer to the Volcano than it is to the Crafty vaporizer in comparison.

The Mighty OG has been considered the best portable vaporizer for years and for good reason. As its successor, the Mighty+ lives up to this legacy and offers a fantastic vaping experience.

The new upgraded ceramic-coated heating chamber should make for an easier cleaning process, and delight purists that want to experience fresh, smooth vapour and clean flavours.

After-use comparison and maintenance of the Mighty+ vaporizers
Battery life and charging time

To my surprise, I've been able to enjoy pretty much the exact same number of bowls with both vaporizers. The Mighty+ gave me another couple of rounds, but considering my OG was not new, I would say it's very similar.

The real difference is noticeable when you want to charge their batteries. The new Mighty+ sports a USB-C charging port, allowing you to plug it pretty much everywhere. With the original Mighty, you need to carry the full power adapter with you if you want to be able to charge it.

The Mighty+ now sports a USB-C fast charging port

Charging time is almost twice as fast on the Mighty+, but only if you're using a fast charger. If you try to charge it through an old USB adapter or your laptop, charging time should be comparable to the OG.
Cleaning and maintenance

When it comes to cleaning and maintenance, it's the same easy process for both Mightys:

Fully disassemble the cooling unit and dip the parts in ISO alcohol.
Rinse and let dry.
Clean the filling chamber with a cotton swab slightly soaked with alcohol.

Do this every week or two and you will keep your Mighty running smoothly for years to come.

You can personalise your experience and buy spare parts like screens, o-rings, mouthpieces, or accessories like dosing capsules, for both the OG and the Plus. Storz & Bickel offers a wide range of parts and accessories for their vaporizers, and both Mightys share the same ones (except for the charging cable). So if you already have a Mighty, you can use all your existing tools with the Mighty+.

The Mighty+ comes with a 2 year warranty, plus 1 year upon registration, against only 2 year for the OG.
In conclusion: Is the Mighty+ worth it?

Yes.

It's definitely one of the best vaporizers I tried and there's not really much you could do better. The only reason to be picky about it is when compared to its older brother. The Mighty OG is a premium device and has been considered the best portable vaporizer for years. If you want to save some money and don't mind the lack of USB charging and slower heat up time, you can go with the OG while it's still in the Storz & Bickel assortment.

If you want to be able to easily and quickly charge your device everywhere, the USB-C port is a great feature and is worth the price difference. In addition, if you buy the Mighty+ you will also get a longer warranty period, and a sleeker device.

By Antoine M : I discovered vaporizer swith a Volcano Classic during my first visit to Amsterdam, 10 years ago. I bought my first vape (a Magic Flight Launch Box) shortlyafter and have been vapingever since. I never leave home without a Mighty or a VapCap in mypocket.
